DIGITAL ARCHITECTURE
Digital Architecture is the intellectual property of Canarie, The University of Ottawa, and
Learn Canada.
Digital Architecture (DA) is a new way of conceptualizing online content design because it integrates ID (Instructional Design), HCI (Human Computer Interaction), database design, project management, human communication theory, and the humanist disciplines of history, psychology, cultural studies and political economy. Conceived and developed by Learn Canada and the University of Ottawa, DA is not only a course (theory and applied), it is also a consulting and research service offered by the Learn Canada consortium.
The 11 modules of this course are structured to meet a variety of different needs; the course is aimed at all educators and trainers, and starts from the premise that knowledge, communication, innovation, motivation, and experimentation are common activities of all educators. Each theoretical module can be enhanced by a workshop, or the whole course can be enhanced by a practicum.

TEACHING CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH BEHAVIOURAL DIFFICULTIES
This online course provides teachers with the requisite skills to create a positive classroom environment suitable to facilitate the accomplishment of learning objectives. Information and strategies are provided to address the socio-emotional needs of students with the intention of promoting pro-social behaviour and laying the foundation for meeting the student's curricular objectives.
The course examines the needs of students with a Behavioural Exceptionality and provides ways that teachers might address them. It also supports the goals of the School Board Codes of Conduct: Setting of Standards of Behaviour in Schools. It provides teachers with the skills to assess, and respond to socio-emotional issues presented by students with behavioural difficulties.
A fundamental professional skill is the ability to create a classroom environment that fosters pro-social behaviour, teaches students how to get along with others through non-violent means by problem solving, and using language to mediate difficult situations. This expertise allows the teacher to address the needs of the "whole" child and consequently, lays the groundwork for meeting curricular objectives.
You will learn this material by working through a series of interactive exercises and
scenarios that allow you to apply the theory you are learning.
INGENIUS and STUDYWELL
InGenius is a powerful tool that helps you to create and deliver interactive online content. The tool is especially effective where the user's responses and response times need to be measured, tracked and reported, or when instant and automatic feedback needs to be provided. Text, audio, slides, animations, movies, sound files and many other kinds of digital media can also be added. Ingenius can be used to create self-help activities with strategically placed, automated interventions, or it can be used as a testing tool. Student progress is monitored and logged, and can be viewed by users as well as their parents or supervisors or teachers.
Project Tracker
Project Tracker is a versatile, easy-to-use time/work management tool that monitors and reports on what tasks are being done in your projects, who is doing them, how close your workers are to finishing, and how much time and budget money has been spent to date.
The simple interface allows you to get started in minutes! You may enter information in any sequence you wish, but the getting started wizard below recommends the following sequence: 1) create your workers and managers, 2) create your project. Once the people and project have been created either you or your manager(s) can create the tasks and assign them to workers.
Workers see only the tasks that have been assigned to them. Managers see only the tasks and/or projects for which they are responsible. Administrators see everything. Administrators or managers can generate project reports.
A beautiful master report gives you a bird's-eye view of how your project is doing and how much time and budget money have been spend to date.
Project Tracker lives on a publicly accessible and secured webserver and therefore can be used from anywhere as long as the user has a web browser.
Project Tracker is ideal for projects where people work from home or from different
locations. A secure connection and careful design ensure that your data is secured from prying
eyes.
Project Tracker is the ideal tool for anyone who.
- administers one or more small to medium-size projects
- does not want the clutter and complexity of regular management software tools
- does not have time or the need to learn all the intricacies of project management software
- is a university or government researcher
- needs to keep track of tasks and workers
- uses workers who operate from different remote locations
- create projects, managers, tasks, and workers
- assign userids, passwords, and tasks to particular workers
- have your workers fill in their availability and then enter information about their progress on the tasks you have assigned to them
- monitor the progress of work and budget spent up to a particular date
- Choose from three roles: Administrator, Manager, Worker, each with different levels of authority
- Administrators set up projects, tasks and workers; managers set up tasks and workers; workers add their availability and work progress to date

- Accessible from anywhere as long as you have a web browser and internet access
- Allows administrators and managers to have multiple roles
- Create projects within projects (sub-projects)
